Elder supporting Kin and community members
We are currently involved with an Elder in the community, who is struggling financially, the elder takes care of the teenage grandchildren who come to the house as there is instability in their own homes; There has been DFV, substance misuse, Sorry Business, and detention for some of the grandchildren, The Elder is doing their best to provide a safe space for the grandchildren. This elder has been struggling with trying to support the local teenagers and the grannies who visit for yarn and something to eat on her limited income from the Aged pension. Recently the 2nd hand fridge they have has broken in the family home, leaving the Elder to have to buy daily something they can't afford to continue to do.
