We operated specialised homelessness services supporting people to build a pathway out of homelessness. We provided independent financial advice and advocacy for people in financial difficulty.

St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn - Night Patrol

The Night Patrol provides a mobile outreach service for people experiencing homelessness almost every day of the year. The current Vinnies Night Patrol Vans has been operating in Canberra for over 18 years and provides essential material items, light refreshments and friendly faces.

The growing concern of homelessness has prompted Vinnies to take further steps to address the issues of disadvantage that people in our community are facing. With the current van covering areas on the north side of town, the new van will allow us to cover the south side.

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW - Matthew Talbot Hostel

Matthew Talbot Hostel is a not-for-profit program providing homelessness support services to the community across the Greater Sydney area. We aim to provide immediate support /accommodation for people in crisis as well as facilitate access to other essential services and more permanent housing. This is done whilst providing a safe environment for people who are sleeping rough and have experienced trauma. Material Aid is an increasingly important part of the support we provide. Examples of items that we provide to the People We Support (PWS) are, but are not limited to, towels (approx. 85 daily), toiletries (250 packs per month), shoes, clothes, underwear and socks.
In addition to these basic needs we provide essentials to set up a new home.

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is a leading provider of frontline community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 140 years. We have over 100 local services across the state, dealing with social issues such as homelessness, domestic and family violence, disability, mental health, youth wellbeing, refugee and migrant inclusion, rehabilitation and addiction.
We have a vast footprint in NSW, a network of more than 10,000 members and volunteers in 368 local member networks, referred to as Conferences, operating in communities across NSW. Our members, volunteers and staff assist people experiencing disadvantage with
resources including food parcels and vouchers, financial assistance, help with energy bills and other expenses, budget counselling, school items for children, and the provision of other material items such as furniture, clothing, bedding and other household items.

We offer Family Assistance to families and single people experiencing a range of challenges. We supply food, furniture, clothes, assistance with utilities and support with accessing medical appointments and buying medication. We often need goods for women and children moving into accommodation after leaving domestic violence situations. at times we cannot source a fridge or washing machine or cots and baby goods. We work very closely with the other agencies in Gympie eg Gympie Community Housing to assist both men and women. A number of men are returning from custodial situations and need emergency accommodation and need all the simple household items. We often have trouble finding pots and pans to give them or sufficient linen to keep up with the demand. Currently our big demand is for white goods, furniture and other essentials for families affected by the 2022 floods.

St. Vincent de Paul - Amelie House

Amelie House is a crisis accommodation and case management service for unaccompanied women or women with children who have experienced domestic/family violence and/or homelessness. We provide safe individual unit accommodation.
The service operates within a client centred service delivery framework based on the principles of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration and empowerment and incorporates both trauma informed and culturally competent practices.
We also assist with a range of issues that lead single men and women and families to become homeless or at risk of homelessness. All our services provide case-management and advocacy for each person that we assist.

Together, with some very special community partners, we create Connected Communities that fight isolation with Connection. ​Our world-first StandbyU Shield is an evidence-based, immediate, tangible and measurable solution that combines the strength of human relationships and the power of technology that connects those at risk to those who care. Together, we can provide 24/7 support to those at risk, with no intake. Magnolia Place is a safe space in the heart of Westfield Helensvale, where anyone experiencing abuse or isolation can get the support they, or their loved ones, need to see a brighter future, without fear or judgement. With no intake form, no eligibility criteria and no waiting list - pick up the phone or pop into Magnolia Place for a tea, coffee and confidential conversation with experienced practitioners - who can work with you and link you in with meaningful support.

Starick Services Inc. - Rivervale

Starick is a not-for-profit domestic and family violence service that assists women and children. Starick has been working in the south east metropolitan corridor of Perth since 1985, providing a diverse range of services for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.

Starick provides crisis and medium-term housing, court and legal support, counselling, support groups, programs for children and a community op shop.

Our services include two refuges, outreach services for women and children living in the community and transitional housing for women who have recently left the refuge. We also offer our Safe at Home programs to assist women to stay in their homes after domestic violence.

We rely on community funding to provide non-core programs to the women and children in our service such as children’s counselling, baby massage, yoga for trauma and therapeutic writing programs.

Staying Home Leaving Violence

SHLV is a free service that helps women and their children to separate from a violent relationship and stay safely at home. SHLV provides a range of support such as safety planning, improving home security, assistance in managing finances, support for children, helping women throughout the complicated legal process, information and referrals to other services and support to continue to live free from violence.

Stewart House supports disadvantaged and at-risk public school children in NSW & ACT by providing a 12-day break by the sea at no cost to carers where they are given teeth, sight, hearing and wellbeing checks, excursions around Sydney, wellbeing activities that build self-esteem and resilience, and a loving and caring environment.

Streeties Aboriginal Corporation

We support families through Barndimanmanha - the Families Saying No to Violence and Reintegration of Young Offenders projects offering holistic supports to young people and their families.
We also provide the Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making Pilot a family group conferencing model giving families a voice when making decisions about keeping their children safe.

Strong Women Talking - Marigum Mubi Yangu Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation

Strong women talking is a Domestic and Family Violence prevention program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders based in north Brisbane. we Educate, Equip and Empower women and their families through an 8-week healing journey and follow up groups. We also do a lot of community-based events to educate the wider community about domestic violence and the impacts it has. We cater food and beverages to the ladies, provide transport and support in the most culturally appropriate manner. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are over-represented in national violence statistics.
