Our School Chaplain, based on site, supports the emotional and social well-being of children at school, their families and the school staff.
This regularly involves getting to know children and their families on a very personal level, particularly those children and families most vulnerable in our community, and helping them know what they need in order to attend school and develop the educational pathways.
Often these needs are quite practical BUT if they are met can really improve their general sense of well-being.
Our Chaplain coordinates this by providing social and emotional support and wellbeing; running classroom support programs, encourage individual support within finding self-identity, strong friendships, grief and loss relief, referrals internally and externally, as well as community engagement.

YSAS - Dandenong

The Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) provides services to young people aged between 12 and 21 years with complex substance related issues. YSAS provides outreach and support, short term residential detox facilities, a youth specific Residential Rehabilitation Program, Day Programs and other such programs, including referrals to other services. The service operates within a multi-disciplinary health framework, focusing on strategies to reduce substance related harm and engaging young people in opportunities for a healthy and meaningful lifestyle that does not require the need for substance use. YSAS employ a multi-disciplinary team of skilled and experienced alcohol and other drug workers who provide a responsive, flexible and accessible service to young people, which is both client-centered and developmentally appropriate.

This organization works with disadvantaged youth and supports them to get drug and alcohol support. They support them with mental health and AOD supports. YSAS also supports young people to get into housing and education where necessary

YSAS - Geelong

YSAS provides services to young people with complex drug or alcohol related issues who are aged between 12 and 25 years. The service operates within a multi-disciplinary framework focusing on strategies to reduce drug or alcohol related harm and engage young people in opportunities to develop a healthy and meaningful lifestyle that does not require the need for drugs or alcohol. YSAS employs a team of skilled and experienced drug and alcohol youth workers to provide a responsive, flexible and accessible service which is both client-centered and developmentally appropriate. Some examples of the services which YSAS provide include outreach support, short-term intensive residential support, youth specific residential rehabilitation programs and various specialist services.

YSAS Birribi

Birribi is a 15-bed residential rehabilitation and healing service for young people aged between 16 and 25 years. We are a statewide not for profit service situated on a 15-acre site in Eltham Victoria that provides a clinically safe residential rehabilitation program in the form of a therapeutic community for young people who require treatment to manage their alcohol and substance use problems and to build resilience.
Birribi offers a stable and secure environment where young people have the opportunity to work on managing problematic behaviours, improving life and interpersonal skills, learning alternative habits to develop personal resilience and confidence, build social networks, reconnect with family and reintegrate back into the community. Birribi welcomes people of all sexualities, genders, identities and cultures.
Birribi is an effective, clinical alcohol and drug recovery orientated program that is staffed 24/7 by a strong, dedicated team. The aim is to provide pathways to healing for young people by providing trauma informed care within a holistic and resilience-based framework.

The social and emotional wellbeing team provides case management, counselling and psychology services to clients with complex or multiple support needs. This means that clients referred often have support needs/ or vulnerabilities across a range of interconnected area’s including mental health and trauma, problematic drug or alcohol use, chronic health issues, unemployment, financial hardship, homelessness or housing issues, issues in relationships or domestic or family violence, probation or youth justice issues, child safety vulnerabilities, disability or aged care needs and limited resources and support networks.

YWCA Canberra Housing Support Unit

The YWCA Canberra Housing Support Unit offers transitional housing for women, children and their families who have been sleeping rough, escaping DV, or who are at risk of homelessness. The families that we house often only have the belongings they can carry with them. They are in need of intensive support to help reestablish their lives.
