Founded in 1996, Hands On Studio has become a leader in the field of arts and disabilities in the Canberra region. The program has developed a model for a creative community guided by the principle that art is fundamental to human expression and that all people are entitled to its tools of communication. Over the years, the artists who attend the program on a weekly basis have collaborated with their peers as well as local and interstate artists to extend their practice, develop an individual style and foster a sense of community. The ages of the artists who attend the program range from 17-92, a very broad cohort with different life experiences and varying wants, needs, and desires which are supported at Hands On Studio.

CatholicCare - Reaching Out Program
The CatholicCare Reaching Out Program provides free alcohol and drug counselling to young people aged 13-18 years. Our Counselling sessions are provided through outreach, which means rather than having to come to us, we can meet you in a place where you feel most comfortable; be it your school, community centre, or work place.
Our counsellors understand that being lectured about Drugs and Alcohol is not necessarily what you need. The Reaching Out Program is an opportunity to talk with someone who is qualified to help you figure out what works best for you.
We also offer support for families and friends of people impacted by alcohol and other drugs.

CatholicCare - Reconnect Program
The program, which is funded by the Department of Social Services, uses community based interventions to assist young people aged 12-18 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and their families to help stabilise their living situation, achieve family reconciliation and improve their level of engagement with education, work and their local community. Reconnect Case Workers offer counselling, mediation, group programs and practical support to the whole family to break the cycle of homelessness. CatholicCare has been providing this vital program across Canberra and regional NSW (Young, Boorowa, Canowindra, Grenfell, Moloney, West Wyalong and surrounds) since 1996.

CCCares @ Canberra College is a program for pregnant and parenting students from the ACT and surrounding districts.
CCCares provides flexible delivery of learning and content, towards the receipt of an ACT Year 12 Certificate and certified competency based training.
We offer continuous enrolment over the year to cater for the needs of the community. Our current enrolment is 142 students with approximately the same number of children involved with the program.
Our students are aged between 14 and 28 and have varying needs, life experiences, attendance patterns and levels of proficiency in all areas. We are fully immersed in the community providing weekly free 3 course hot breakfast to around 100 people; free food pantry to 34 people; free wash and dry laundry. We have no restrictions as everyone deserves food and acceptance. With Covid our resources are stretched as more people are struggling with little government support. We are now being called on nearly every day for support. We have started a small community garden with herbs, veggies and fruit trees so our guests can avail themselves of some extra healthy items. Our breakfast relies on an annual grant but our pantry just on donations where we can as there are no grants for food pantry.

Our priority is to respect and maintain the privacy, safety, dignity and independence of people reaching out for help. By connecting with a relevant support organisastion, your needs can be assessed and verified, and you can receive tailored support, which may include the organisation requesting items or services on your behalf through GIVIT.
The support organisation that is assisting you can request a range of donated items and services through GIVIT on your behalf. This may include furniture, household items, whitegoods and appliances. You can also request baby items, toiletries, toys and educational supplies, kid’s or adult’s clothing, digital devices like mobile phones or laptops.
GIVIT may also be able to help you buy groceries, fuel or medication in the form of vouchers. You can check our ‘What’s needed’ list for an idea of what can be requested through GIVIT.
Your requests may be filled through a donor donating the money needed to purchase the item new, or through a donor donating the actual item or service.
Your support organisation can also request time and skills such as tradespeople, cleaners, health and social support, tutoring and transport assistance.
