How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Capital Region Community Services - Youth Services

The Belconnen Youth Centre is home to the CRCS Youth Services team, which coordinates a range of activities and services for young people aged 12-25.

The Belconnen Youth Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 10 am-6 pm. Young people can drop by and use the space either to relax, study, or catch up with our team. In the case we are offsite and the youth centre is closed, we usually post an update on our social media and have information posted on our front door. During ACT public school breaks, the Youth Services team operates the Youth School Holiday Program, which provides free activities for young people.

Capricorn Citizen Advocacy Inc

Capricorn Citizen Advocacy is a not for profit, community based organisation located in Rockhampton and governed by a Management Committee.
It was established in 2000 to implement a disability advocacy program in the area governed by Rockhampton Regional Council and Livingstone Shire Council.
Citizen Advocacy is a community based movement which recognises, promotes and protects the welfare and interests of people who have disabilities. CCA works within the Citizen Advocacy framework which facilitates supportive, freely given relationships between everyday members of the community (citizen advocates) and people with disabilities (protégés) who are vulnerable or at risk, and who have unmet needs. It provides a practical way in which citizens, ordinary members of the community, can make a positive difference.
Funding for the program activities and two staff employed by Capricorn Citizen Advocacy is provided by the Queensland Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors.

Captains Flat Public School

Captains Flat Public School is a small rural school located 30 minutes south of Queanbeyan. We provide a nurturing educational environment for our Kindergarten to Year 6 students. Care Kits for Kids Qld

Care Kits for Kids Qld are all volunteers who together with community create Care Kits for Qld children in need.
We provide free Care Kits (new backpacks containing 2 days' new clothing, toiletries, education supplies, toys, books and hand crafted quilt or wrap to Qld children in need through Qld child protection, Qld children's services, foster & kinship care, domestic violence, indigenous and services in schools.
We create and transport our Care Kits through community generosity: in-kind and financial donations, grants and fundraising.
In the first 6 months of 2024 we've already distributed 2,000 Care Kits. Donations turnover is very high.
We ALWAYS need donations of NEW clothing for babies, children and teens, toiletries, stationery, new toys new backpacks. Thank you if you can help.

Career Employment Australia is a NFP organisation which runs a number of Government funded programs. We provide support and training for long term unemployed and disadvantaged jobseekers.

Caretakers Cottage provides support, information and accommodation to young people aged between 13 and 25 years of age through 2 main programs:
Caretakers Cottage Youth Refuge -accommodates up to 10 young people aged between 13 and 18 years of age with 24 hour support for a period of up to 3 months.
Options Youth Housing is the semi-independent accommodation program for up to 16 young people aged between 16 and 25 years of age for a period of 18-24 months. Options provides case management support, living skills development and general support to young people who are unable to return to their family home, preparing them to live independently.

Carevan Albury

Provides support to anyone in the Albury/Wodonga region that needs it. Run a kids cooking and caring program in local schools during the day and lunchtime and nightly meal services in different locations for homeless etc to sit down and eat together. Provide lunches to schools to distribute to kids who have no lunch. Deliver meals to those in temporary accommodation as well as clothing and toiletries. Get support and refer to other organisations and empower people to get back on their feet. Also provide resources to increase good dental hygeine. We network with many other community organisations to care for and help many locals in need.

Carinity Education Southside

Carinity Education Southside is an independent special assistance school for young, disengaged women and young mums, we accept every young woman for who they are. Giving vulnerable young women a genuine chance at education. Each grade has a youth worker available for additional assistance in and out of the classroom. They act as a supportive guide to provide ready access to help and direction. Our teachers and staff are trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

First Nations Australians
