How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Goomburrup Aboriginal Corporation

We are a not for profit Noongar community resource centre. We provide information and assistance to the Noongar community on a range of matters from Centrelink queries
to referral to legal advice. Each person who comes to our service has problems or issues so different that we deal with the majority of them through advocating, negotiating and
mediating on their behalf with govenment and non government agencies. We also run a women's and men's group by providing a place for them to gather and undertake activities, for example arts and crafts, sewing, wood work and social support. We run the Benang Suicide Prevention Program which is a community education program. The purpose of
Benang is to bring awareness about suicide and also provide community members with knowledge and skills to recognise suicidal behaviours and administer help to a person in
emotional distress until professional help arrives.We provide emergency relief through our Empty Pantry project.

Goondir Health Services

Goondir Health Services is a non-profit organization. Wewww provide Health as well as Programs, we are located in Dalby, Oakey St George and Chinchilla. We provide Programs to all these communities. I work with the Big Buddy Program which is Participants aged between 12 to 17 we do a lot of cooking programs and provide personal items for the children that are in need most of the time. Wandir Gundi is a playgroup which young mothers can go CDP is cultural group where they do paintings and make Aboriginal art works. I also work with the ER Program, which is emergency relief for families, we go to Brisbane once a week and pick up food from Second bite, Fairshare and Foodbank we offer the community food hampers once a week, the numbers have grown over the years. We also help parents getting their children to school supplying books, pencils, bags, and there uniforms any help would be greatly appreciated.

Got Your Back Sista

Got Your Back Sista empowers women to thrive after leaving domestic violence. We are focused on providing services within the Hunter, Central Coast and Taree Regions.

1. BEGIN AGAIN PROGRAM - helping women and children setup a safe home by providing furniture, white goods and household items, plus food and personal care items.

2. RISE UP AND THRIVE PROGRAM – consists of workshops and a support group that aims to help women gain the confidence, support and skills to achieve personal goals and/or to re-enter the workforce.

3. STAND TALL SISTA PROGRAM - a women's/teens 10-week Self-Defence course that aims to give women the techniques & skills they need to protect themselves and improve their physical and emotional wellbeing.

4. WOW PROGRAM – partnering with TAFE NSW this program provides a pathway to further study and/or employment by teaching basic computer and admin skills.

Goulburn Murray Local Learning and Employment Network (GMLLEN)

GMLLEN is funded by the Victorian Department of Education & Training to support young people by improving their participation, engagement, attainment and transition outcomes.
GMLLEN works with Industry to source a range of school - industry engagement opportunities within the local government areas, (Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie and Moira Shires), that are tailored to local priorities and support students to expand their knowledge and skills of local industries to enhance effective pathway decisions, as well as increasing their work readiness capabilities.

GP Down South - Bunbury

Gracehouse

Gracehouse is a church in Slacks Creek, Qld. We have a few programs reaching out to the community around us and a big heart for the children in our community.
Our church building used the be a Salvation Army church for 18 years. People in the area still walk in on a weekly basis for help, which we happily provide.

GraceLife

GraceLife is a charity/ not-for-profit community-based church in three locations, Malaga & Ellenbrook in Western Australia and most recently Livingston in Zambia. Each location operates as a community centre and is used seven days a week. From each of our WA locations, a government accredited alternative learning program is provided for at-risk teens with the aim to support them in achieving year ten graduation or higher. Graham House Community Centre Inc

Graham House Community Centre has for 28 years been providing holistic assistance and nurturing the strengths of individuals and the community to empower them to meet their own needs. We provide emergency relief to people with immediate financial crisis situations, DV work with men by providing an education program that provides participants with information and practical tools which can help to change the values, beliefs and behaviours that support and are at the foundation of the participants use of violence. Grand Pacific Health - HASI

Grand Pacific Health (GPH) is a not-for-profit NGO supporting our local communities and their wellbeing.
The HASI program is a government funded mental health recovery service. Under GPH we service the Shoalhaven region and support participants who live with severe and persistent mental health illnesses.

Established in 2002, Grandparents for Grandchildren SA Inc (GFGSA) is a largely volunteer organisation committed to supporting grandparent and kinship carers who are the primary carers of children, those who have concerns about the safety and welfare of their grandchildren and those who are experiencing alienation.

Our volunteers provide a listening ear and practical, effective advice and support through a shared belief is that all children have the right to feel safe, secure and loved, and to know from whom and where they came.

GFGSA assists grandcarers and kinship carers (including alienated Grandparents) by providing unique support services including:
o Emotional and peer support through our 'village' meeting groups
o Practical advice and agency referrals
o Telephone hotline staffed by volunteers

Domestic and family violence

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

People living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.
