We provide short term residential mental health services for young people aged 16-21. Our service is a step up from home or a step down from hospital. The 40-person residential service provides contemporary staged recovery support for people experiencing mental health issues - offering transitional care between the hospital setting and community living. Focus on building capacity in our residents across a wide range of areas to aid in leading meaningful lives.

Mind Australia - Toowoomba Community Care Unit

Mind Australia work collaboratively with Queensland Health at the Darling Downs Community Care Unit (Toowoomba). DDCCU is a residential facility consisting of 24 individual single-bed units which provide short to medium term safe, supportive and recovery focused care for people with serious mental illness and associated psychosocial disability.

The goal for residents residing at CCU is to transition into independent living, however, due to limited funds, this can be barrier for some residents who are not able to afford furniture and/or items for their homes.

At CCU, group programs are offered such as art, sport, movie nights, budgeting, cooking, gardening, etc. Any donated items for groups would be much appreciated, such as craft items, board/card games, books, DVDS for residents, items to support wellness, footballs/sporting equipment, etc.

FDV Outreach is an early intervention and prevention strategy, aiming to increase the safety of
women and children who experience or live with family and domestic violence. The Outreach role
will provide a valuable additional resource to increase the safety of women and children in Hedland

The Youth Withdrawal and Respite Service provides a safe and supported short-stay residential environment to help young people aged 12-21 years to manage their withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs and/or take time out from environmental influences and pressures.

Residential Rehabilitation aims to provide young people with a friendly, supportive and structured environment to complete a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Its focus is to provide both physical and emotional safety while they engage in treatment to transition back into the community. This is a three month program and residents are required to pay rent during their stay.

Transitional Program provides support to young people engaging at DAYS residential programs to transition into supported accommodation in the community.

Going Places Toowoomba is a mobile support service for young people aged 16-25 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Our knowledgeable staff provide specialized case management support to young people who are sleeping rough, couch surfing or living at home. This included working with young people and their families, where appropriate, to resolve the issues that are putting them at risk of homelessness.

IFS aims to improve the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children, and their families through the use of a range of flexible, tailored support services. IFS is funded to reduce notifications and re-notifications into the statutory Child Protection system and assist in reducing the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in statutory child protection. It works to do this through the use of a voluntary and collaborative case-management approach enabling families to access counselling, health interventions, in-home supports and other identified services to meet the individual needs of all family members.

Disability Employment Services – Disability Management Services (DMS) helps people with a disability, injury or a health condition to find a job, and then we continue this support while they transition to ongoing employment. We also support their employers with training, and assistance to access a range of other services.

SHIFT provide outreach casework support for young people experiencing alcohol and other drug (AOD) use issues, connecting with them in environments where they feel safe & comfortable. Referrals can be accepted from any source, including the young person. SHIFT is a voluntary service where young people have the choice to engage. Goals and engagement are informed by the young person. The SHIFT team brings comprehensive, broad experience in complex case management. Every referral will be assessed for suitability and support levels will be determined on the needs and complexities of each individual young person. There is not a limit on the length or frequency of engagement. This is determined by the worker and the young person.

Katherine Sobering up Shelter is a 18 bed funded facility for intoxicated clients that need a safe place to sleep and rest for a minimum of 6 hours until they are deemed sober to re-enter back into the community.

SWSY Hub provides long-term accommodation for young people 16-21 years of age, who are studying or working and at risk of homelessness. The Hub aims to break the cycle of homelessness by supporting young people to stay in school, continue studying after school and increase employment. These young people often have no family supports and their primary supports come from services offered at the Hub.

Mission Australia is a NGO organization who works with vulnerable people in the community to assist them so they can stand for themselves. The Brighter Futures Program has a focus on child protection and supporting families that are affected by Domestic and family violence, mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues, homelessness and intellectual delays.

Mission Australia Brighter Futures Program - Tablelands

The Brighter Futures Program delivers targeted services and support to families with children aged under 9 years or who are expecting a child, where the child/ren are at high risk of entering the statutory child protection system. The program provides families with the necessary support and services to help prevent an escalation of the problems they are facing. The Brighter Futures Program provides families with access to a wide range of flexible services and supports that cater for individual as well as family needs. These are combined through case management to achieve the improved outcomes. Program service components include: Case management. The MtS is an organisation for the welfare and well being of seafarers who visit the port as part of their work on vessels. It is a Christian faith based organisation working worldwide caring for the 1.6 million seafarers. We operate a canteen, bus service, chapel and recreation area at the Port of Townsville Qld and support individual and groups in need among the visiting seafarers.

Louisa Domestic Violence Service is part of Molonglo Support Services.

Legal Aid funds our South Eastern Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (SEWDVCAS) to provide court support to women taking out an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order in Queanbeyan, Goulburn and Cooma.

Louisa Domestic Violence Service employs four part-time Specialist Domestic Violence Support Workers, a Specialist Child Support Worker, Coordinator and an administration team that we share with the two other services.
