How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Mary of the Angelus Community Ltd

Angelus Housing is a community based, NFP company and voluntary organisation. It provides housing for people in need to prevent homelessness .
This Priority 55 Housing Program is primarily designed for single women over 55 who are at risk.
Angelus residents have low incomes, few assets and enjoy financial and emotional stability of living in a shared secure house arrangements with up to 4 older women.
The residents and Head tenant share the house and garden. providing companionship and security but big enough to give the house the financial stability it requires.
Many have previously lived by themselves and were often lonely and isolated.

Marymead - Southern NSW Family Referral Service

Marymead, a well-respected, not-for-profit organisation servicing the ACT and southern and western regional areas of NSW, has been delivering a range of high quality, family support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. With offices in Canberra at Narrabundah and Watson, and in NSW at Goulburn, Moruya and Wagga Wagga, Marymead’s array of programs and services include child and family counselling, early intervention programs, foster care, post separation support, parent education groups, family and mental health support programs and contact and changeover services for separated parents in significant conflict. Marymead also offers innovative, person-centred support services for people with disability and their families. Marymead CatholicCare - Alcohol & Other Drug Support Connections

AOD Support Connections is an outreach case management program that works in partnership with anyone over 16 who want to stop or reduce their use of alcohol and other drugs.

AOD Support Connections can assist clients to make changes in their life, help connect them with other health and community services, develop crisis and relapse prevention plans, or explore harm reduction strategies to help them become more in control and improve your health and wellbeing.

Marymead CatholicCare - Youth Housing Support Service

Finding affordable, suitable accommodation in Canberra can be hard at the best of times, particularly if you are a young person. The Youth Housing Support Service (YHSS) provides outreach to young people aged 15-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the ACT. Clients can be teamed up with one of our Youth Housing Specialists who can help them to gain and/or sustain safe, appropriate and affordable accommodation and tenancies.

Mary's House Services

Mary’s House Services (MHS) exists to respond to the desperate need for women and children to escape domestic

Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic

Established in 2002, Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic is a Mater mission driven initiative that has made a significant impact on the health and well being of asylum seekers and people from refugee backgrounds in Brisbane.

The clinic helps people from refugee backgrounds with complex health needs who may have difficulty accessing and navigating health services within general practice. In addition, the clinic provides a no cost service to asylum seekers without Medicare to help reduce the financial barriers to health care.

Many of our patients experience significant financial hardship which impacts their physical and mental health and well being. The clinic links patients to community and social supports to improve financial hardship, social inclusion and community participation.

Donations are always welcomed at MRCCC to help support some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in our community.

Meals on Wheels Brisbane South Inc

We provide meals to those in need in the Brisbane South Aged Care region to support independent living. This may include those older citizens in our community, people with disabilities, people that are unwell or anyone else in need of a nutritious and nourishing meal. Our meals cater for all dietary requirements and needs including gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, halal and allergens as well as moist meals for people that have difficulty swallowing. Menora Charity Fund

The Menora Charity Fund provides assistance to the underprivileged members of the community, including children, families in desperate need of financial and medical assistance, the unemployed and our elderly members too. We do this mainly through donations and the sales of second hand goods. The children are assisted through tutors, books, school uniforms, etc. Those in need of medical assistance we coordinate support from doctors, dentists and other medical staff to try to ensure needs are met. Mens Outreach Service Aboriginal Corporation

Mens Outreach Service Aboriginal Corporation (MOSAC) provides a range of support services to men, their families and communities in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. We are a small team of 23 staff based in Broome who are passionate about and committed to our work and who represent many of the families and communities in the West Kimberley.

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

If you or someone else’s life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

People living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

Refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

People struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.

Alternatively, Alcohol & Drug Counselling Online offers 24/7 online chat counselling.
