Updated 3rd Feb: GIVIT is partnering with the Queensland Government to support people impacted by floods in North and Far North Queensland (NQ and FNQ). Floods have affected Townsville, Ingham, Cardwell and more, with thousands already evacuated.
Donate to the North and Far North Queensland Floods
GIVIT is working with local councils and recovery organisations to respond to the evolving situation and help people impacted by the North and Far North QLD Floods get the essential goods and services they need.
GIVIT is also continuing to help people impacted by the floods caused by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper in 2023, the Southeast QLD Storms during the 2023 holiday season, and the devastating 2022 floods.
The list below shows essential goods and services requested by recovery organisations on behalf of people impacted by flood and storm events in Queensland. As recovery progresses and new needs are identified by organisations helping people impacted by the North and Far North Queensland Floods, more requests to support those affected will appear in the list below.
100% of publicly donated funds received by GIVIT for these appeals will be used to purchase essential items and services to help people affected.

Listing your donation will make it visible and available to charities and support organisations working with people who have been impacted by storms and flooding.
UPDATE as of 4/02/205 - A tropical low continues to bring torrential downpours to North and Far North Queensland impacting the Hinchinbrook and Palm Island LGAs and areas of Burdekin, Cassowary Coast, Townsville, Ingham and Gordonvale. Stay tuned for further updates on scale of need and donations needed by people impacted by this recent flooding event.
Tropical Cyclone Kirrily made landfall near Townsville on Thursday 25 January 2024. Since then, rainfall from the ex-Tropical Cyclone has impacted people right across the state, including in Western Queensland, Central Queensland, and as far south as Moreton Bay north of Brisbane.
On Christmas Day 2023 and over New Year's, parts of South East Queensland, including the Gold Coast, Mt Tamborine, the Scenic Rim, Logan and Brisbane were impacted by severe storms and heavy rain. You can see what's needed by people impacted and provide donations and relief here.
In December 2023, Tropical Cyclone Jasper made landfall in Far North Queensland. Rainfall from the event caused extensive flooding in Cairns in suburbs such as Machans Beach and Holloways Beach, in Port Douglas and the Daintree, in Bloomfield and Degarrra, and in the Aboriginal community of Wujal Wujal. You can see what's needed by people whose homes were flooded and donate money or items here.
In early 2023, flooding affected widespread parts of North West Queensland including Burketown.
GIVIT is still working with support organisations to help people impacted by devastating flooding that impacted large parts of Queensland in February and March 2022.
There are a number of ways you can help people impacted by flooding in Queensland:
Donate money
Donate money to the 2025 North and Far North Queensland Flood Appeal, Far North Queensland Flooding Appeal or the South East QLD Severe Storms Appeal. Alternatively, you can see what's needed in Far North QLD or South East QLD and FUND an item or service directly.
100% of publicly donated money received by GIVIT for these appeals will be used to purchase essential items and services for people impacted by the specific flooding event.
Donate items
GIVIT is the best way to donate items that are actually needed, and to ensure your item donation helps recovery rather than hinders it, which is often the case when people donated unrequested items.
You can see what items are needed in South East Queensland, North Queensland and Far North Queensland, and click the GIVIT button if you're able to donate that item.
If you wish to donate items that you can't see requested, you can offer them for donation via our Online Warehouse. Once offered, charities registered with GIVIT will be able to view and claim your item, in which case you'll be put in touch with that organisastion. Please note that in some cases the items you've offered to donate may not be needed at this time.
Volunteer or donate time
Do you have a skill, a trade or a service that a recovery organisation may need? Or would you just like to help a charity by volunteering in administration, case work, marketing or transport? You may be able to volunteer in person or remotely. You can list your offer to volunteer in our Online Warehouse by completing this form.
Once offered, charities registered with GIVIT will be able to view and claim your volunteering or service offer, in which case you'll be put in touch with that organisation. Please note that in some cases your offer to volunteer your time and/or services may not be needed.
If your home or property has been flooded or storm-damaged, or if you've been otherwise impacted by a flood or storm, you should head to the Queensland Government's disaster recovery support page as a starting point.
To receive donated items or vouchers through GIVIT, you must first connect with an organisation in your area that's providing disaster recovery support. This organisation will assess your needs, and can then place requests on GIVIT on your behalf. Head to our need help page and use the search functionality to find a relevant organisation near you.
Please note that there is no guarantee that these requests for assistance will be able to be met.
After a natural disaster, it's important to donate only items that are truly needed. Unrequested donations can actually negatively impact communities affected by floods or storms. Support organisations working in recovery don't have the resources to receive, sort, store and distribute donated items. In many cases, these unsolicited donated items end up landfill.
Donate items responsibly to people impacted by QLD floods
GIVIT is the best way to donate only items that are actually needed, and to ensure your item donation helps recovery rather than hinders it.
You can see what items are needed by people impacted by flooding in North Queensland, South East Queensland and Far North Queensland. Click the GIVIT button if you're able to donate that item. GIVIT does not assist with the transport or storage of your donated items. For people living in other parts of Australia, the quickest, most effective and responsible way to support people may be to donate money.
If you wish to donate items that you can't see requested, you can offer them for donation via our Online Warehouse. Once offered, charities registered with GIVIT can view and claim your item, in which case you'll be put in touch with that organisation. Please note that in some cases the items you've offered to donate may not be needed at this time.
