Heartbreaking moments for children in the throws of DV
A young girl from regional NSW has been witnessing highly violent domestic violence between her mother and father for 7 years. Last month, at 7 years old, this little girl threw herself out of a moving car window as the violence erupted mid drive, the car moving at erratic and high speeds.
As a result, she has suffered permanent cognitive damage, cranial fractures and disfiguring injuries to her face, limbs and torso. This family are now preparing for long periods of time in and out of hospital.
They now find themselves homeless; mum is also caring for a 1 year old, pregnant and suffering serious mental health conditions; they are currently living with significant levels of isolation, financial hardship, isolation and grief.
