Having just completed most works that were eligible under the Resilient Homes Fund for homeowners impacted by the 2022 floods, this household have been impacted with flood water again following the ex TC Alfred event. Their home sits directly beside a large waterway that has no ability to slow water down when it swells from large amounts of rainfall. In this most recent event the flood waters reached a level approximately .5 of a metre higher than in 2022. They managed to move much of their smaller possessions to the upper level but heavier items, such as their washing machine, was destroyed by the body of water that entered their property. The father of this family is currently attending daily chemo, his second round after ongoing treatment since the 2022 flood. He remained upstairs in the home for the duration of the inundation, without power for a number of days until the water receded as he couldn't find the energy to prepare or leave, the flooding was completely unexpected.
