A 17-year-old student at college who is a young carer for her mother and siblings. She enjoys sports such as basketball and soccer/football. She hopes to work as either a nurse or in the disability sector one day.
This young person has experienced several obstacles in her life such as living in a refugee camp under unfavorable conditions and experiencing significant financial hardship. However, she has shown an incredible capacity for resilience and strength despite any barriers that she may encounter.
Her father is still residing in a refugee camp, and her mother singular source of income is Centrelink. Often, she says her mother does not have enough to provide for the schooling needs let alone her recreational requirements. She often cares for the family when she is not in school, and soccer is her primary form of respite. This young person is looking for support to fund her soccer/football shoes so she can continue to play football.
