Local man lost everything
Well respected local who had full time work and his own house lost everything from the floods after Cyclone Jasper. He had to escape his home as the water rose fast. He managed to get out a window, swim and then had to crawl uphill. He survived the ordeal after waiting for help in the rain for many hours. This person was highly traumatised by the event and is unable to return to work as he tries to rebuild his life, struggling financially and emotionally. He had been trying to repair some items but all of the hard work of cleaning up after the flood has taken a mental and physical toll on this man who also looks after his elderly mother. She has also been affected by the floods emotionally
