Support for mental health patients who come to hospital without any personal items
After hearing how people often come into hospital mental health inpatient wards without any personal items, our group and a hospital social worker took the initiative to establish a welcome care pack project. The project later expanded to include additional healthcare units.
The care packs are given to people when they are admitted as mental health inpatients. The bags contain essential items, including a hairbrush, socks, moisturiser, basic clothing, lip balm, water bottles, notebooks and pens. More than 100 care packs are supplied to inpatients each month. Many of the inpatients have little clothing, so we also supply basic clothing.
