Meaningful therapeutic activities for women with mental health difficulties

Hello kind donors,

We are a 16-bed acute inpatient psychiatric unit for women.

We aim to provide a therapeutic space for women to feel safe and supported whilst they are recovering from acute episodes of mental illness, and navigating other complex issues including family/domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, isolation, unemployment, and addiction.

Many of the women we support have experienced significant trauma and disadvantage throughout their lives which have contributed to the breakdown of their mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic also further exacerbated the mental wellbeing of our clients.

We are seeking donations to create a therapeutic environment and to provide therapeutic activities to support improved mental health, well being, social connection, self-esteem, and the return to positive life roles and identity.

Grocery voucher - $50

We are looking to provide some small gifts to women on the ward during Christmas that otherwise are isolated or unable to spend time with their families during this festive time.
We would also look at using these vouchers to provide gifts for children of the women that are on the ward that are unable to shop or finance Christmas presents for their children.
Many women on the ward are unwell and have experienced domestic violence, trauma and isolation. They experience financial hardship and difficulties and are often not able to provide gifts for their children during this time.
