A young boy from regional NSW was diagnosed with leukaemia on Christmas eve on 2023... he was flown to hospital the same day to commence treatment and what would be an 11-month stint in medical isolation. This has seen the family separated for 11 months, placing them under immense emotional strain and mounting financial pressure as the mother stayed in hospital and dad remained at home to care for healthy siblings.
This week, the young boy is officially in remission and will celebrate Christmas at home with loved ones.
Whilst he is not completely healed, this is a massive milestone and one that should be acknowledge and celebrated.
