Seeking support for a weekly mum's morning tea for women with intellectual disabilities
Our organisation runs a weekly mums' group for women with disabilities, many of whom face social isolation, financial and housing instability, unemployment, and domestic violence. This group provides a safe and supportive space to connect, learn, and enjoy self-care activities.
For years, this group has been a highlight in our members’ week, funded through NDIS plans and generous donations. However, recent NDIS changes have made it increasingly difficult to sustain. To continue, we’ve had to cut morning tea and self-care activities like arts and crafts and community outings—small but meaningful moments that bring joy and connection. Many of our mums rarely have time or resources for themselves. We are seeking donations to help ensure our group can continue to run, and that it is meaningful. It is through these activities that members are then able to engage in conversations that help address some of the challenges they experience, such as isolation, violence, unemployment etc.
