Creating Christmas hampers for needy families in Mundaring community struggling with economic hardship and domestic violence
Each year over the past ten years our organisation has collected items from supportive donors in our community to create Christmas hampers for families struggling with economic hardship within our immediate community. These families are identified by our community pantry team, as well as being referred by Chaplains and Principals at local public schools servicing low socio-economic areas within our community. The family struggles arise from marriage breakdowns and domestic violence and sadly, it is the children who invariably suffer and go without. The Christmas hampers are designed to show love and kindness to the families at a time when the parent(s) don't have the means to provide presents and or food treats to their kids, who see their class mates and friends enjoying the festivity of Christmas. Where possible, we endeavour to include in the hampers the means for the parent(s) to access additional fuel for their car and to purchase medicines and/or personal hygiene items.
