Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students need your support over Christmas

We work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who haven’t been attending or engaging in school. We do this by working holistically with students and their families to understand the barriers.

Some of these barriers are intergenerational trauma, financial hardship, Family violence, Mental health issues, Homelessness, loss of income, Covid 19. This has led to a number of families becoming unpaid carers.

Through the support of the program, we’ve seen an increase in school attendance, access to mental health services and other supports the families and students need.

With your generosity the families will have a chance to celebrate Christmas, without the added financial pressure.

Ten little ones, aged 4-11, often go without birthdays, Easter outings to the zoo, or even the occasional treat from the ice cream truck. Christmas is usually relied on donations, and they rarely get what they ask Santa for. This gift card will give their carers the opportunity to purchase what their little ones truly want for Christmas, making their holidays brighter and more joyful.
