Family struggling to refurbish home after 2022 flood seeking assistance
A young family with three children aged 18, 16 and 11 are getting ready to move into their home after having spent the last 2 and a half years living in a pod, caravan and shipping containers. The family purchased their property 5 months before the flood and were in the process of building when the flood hit. They had all of their belongings stored in two shipping containers on the property as well as building equipment for their home. It was all destroyed or washed away in flood water. The husband has given up significant paid work to create temporary living for the family and work on their home (they had no home or contents insurance). They are hoping to move into the home in the next two weeks and have no remaining funds to buy the essentials they need.
