Large Concrete Pots

Student Art and Healing Initiative

Following the devastating floods in 2023, many of our students have struggled with returning to school due to trauma and displacement. In response, we are launching a new attendance incentive aimed at creating a welcoming environment in our school’s front office.

One idea, proposed by the students themselves, is to display their artwork prominently. Through art, our students can express themselves in ways that resonate with their culture, and we believe their families would love to see their work displayed in such a meaningful way at the school. We are excited about incorporating the natural environment into this initiative by using large pots, painted by the students, to decorate the school’s entrance. We believe that the process of creating these pieces will not only foster healing through art but also provide the students with a sense of pride and belonging when they see their work showcased at the heart of the school.
