Sensory/Fidget Toy
Children in Care experiencing distress
Hi there,
I am a case manager for many children in out of home care. Many children do experience distress while in this situation and express big and at times pain based behaviours including self harm.
These children are working hard with therapeutic supports to understand their feelings and how to redirect their pain based behaviours, however it is the feeling of self harm which some find calming.
There has been a new self harm minimisation tool released to support diverting the action of self harm to a high sensory input toy which works through deep focused pressure assisting with regulation.
If anyone is able to donate a voucher that I could spend on purchase these tools for these children that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
