New beginnings in Deepwater Rebuilding After the 2022 Northern Rivers Floods
In the heart of Deepwater, NSW, a couple and her elderly brother are on a path toward building a new life. After being affected by the catastrophic floods of 2022 in the Northern Rivers, they were allocated transitional housing. But now, with hopes and dreams of self-sufficiency, they are looking to complete their home on land they purchased in Deepwater—far from the devastation of floodwaters.
Having already completed much of the initial construction themselves, they have pushed through one hurdle after another. However, as their dream home begins to take shape, they are now at a crossroads. They’ve exhausted their funds and are in urgent need of skilled tradesmen to finish the electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, and other essential aspects of the build.
In an effort to end the uncertainty of transitional housing they are now reaching out for support from local tradespeople, or volunteers, willing to help them build a place they can once again call HOME
