Sensory room refurbishment to support consumers recovering from mental illnesses to reduce seclusion & restrictive practices.

A health care service specializing in acute engagement and treatment for people with severe mental illness and high needs. The sensory rooms on the unit have been minimally used due to COVID-19 policies and are significantly lacking in equipment and furniture.
We are conducting a project to refurbish the 2 sensory rooms on the unit to increase consumer engagement as a key part of their recovery, alternative interventions to restrictive practices and to promote positive well being and emotional self-regulation.
We are requesting donations to purchase sensory items as our existing equipment is severely limited or no longer usable. The aim of the sensory room is to provide a safe space for self-regulation, de-escalation and therapy. However, we currently do not have any resources to support us in delivering engaging and recovery orientated therapy. Our service and consumers have limited access to resources and funding so any donation will be much appreciated! Thank you.
