The February fires destroyed their home, all their belongings, their car and animal enclosures, turning everything to ash, escaping only with their lives.
The family discovered after insurance inspections were conducted that they were unknowingly, underinsured and have since been living in temporary accommodation.
The family are struggling financially and after the loss of employment, are living week-to-week.
On top of the fire devastation experienced, the father has undergone a brain tumor removal surgery and has recently also completed another course of chemotherapy for prostate cancer. He has recently discovered this was unsuccessful and he needs to complete another round of treatment.
The round trip to the Monash hospital is 8-hours and the cost for accommodation, fuel and food during the treatment has exhausted their funds.
