At 56, a single mother is working two casual jobs—in aged care and as a cleaner—to support her two teenage daughters. After escaping an abusive marriage in 2023, she is now caught in a draining custody battle over her younger daughter, leaving her emotionally and financially exhausted.
Her older daughter excels in school but struggles with Mental Health challenges, and with Mum’s limited English, communication is becoming difficult. Still, she is determined to improve, learning new words and finding ways to connect.
Despite careful budgeting, financial hardship persists. She sacrifices her own needs but feels powerless when her daughters ask for things she can’t afford. She dreams of completing an aged care certificate for a stable future, but tuition is out of reach.
