Family homeless for 5 years find a home

The family I am supporting have been homeless for over 5 years, and waiting on a Department of Housing property on the priority waitlist for over 2 years. The family comprise of a single mother (35yo) and daughter (14yo). The family became homeless after mum and dad's relationship ended due to DV and dad returned to Queensland. Mum found a rental for a short period of time, but when this was sold, she was unable to find a new rental. The mum and daughter have had periods sleeping on beaches, and in vehicles, but for the most part they had been couch surfing and moved from the city area to a regional area after running out of options.
Mum is currently in hospital waiting for surgery. She has been transported from a Regional hospital to a Major city hospital for the surgery. While waiting for the op, she had the news that the Department had found her a property. Mum is feeling lots of emotions, including the dread of not having any belongings to move in with to make it feel like home.
