This Monbulk resident has experienced a lot of adversity in a short time.
The lady’s husband passed away in November 2023 while they were still dealing with their unsettled Insurance claim from October 2022 Floods. She was also impacted by the January 2024 flood and faces recovery without him.
The lower level of her home is still to be repaired. She has a physical ailment that impacts her mobility and getting up and down the stairs is challenging but despite her situation she manages to the best of her ability.
Now, finally after two years of battling the Insurance company, which has impacted her mental health, she has now settled and looks forward to getting on with repairs. She has incurred extra expense of hired storage shed to store her belonging while house is repaired. An added expense that has put pressure on her already stretched finances.
She is on DSP and has struggled financially with reduced household income since her husband’s passing and ongoing unforeseen cost
