A couple who has lost everything in the 2023 Western Downs October Bush Fires. They are needing financial assistance to pay for car repairs for their car.
Living out here a car is an essential item, but even more important for this couple as the husband suffers epilepsy and has had several seizures recently. He also has a terminal illness, and they are currently in the process of rebuilding a livable shed on their block so they can move back out there as soon as possible. The car is their only means of transport to medical appointments and to the block to continue to re-build.
The local mechanic is doing up a quote for the new starter motor and the labor- estimated cost $800-$900
They are getting worn out due to the continued setbacks and expenses to re-build on their property, they just want to be able to go home, the car is putting additional strain on their mental health and an expense they can't afford.
