Aboriginal woman, strong and resilient, displaced due to floods, diagnosis of cancer, chronic pain and major depression

Aboriginal Elder from the Northern Rivers region, has been deeply affected by the devastating floods that displaced her from her home and caused her to lose everything. With a background marked by trauma both in childhood and adulthood, she has worked tirelessly to establish a sense of safety and stability in her life. Currently, she faces multiple health challenges, including major depression, chronic pain, and a recent diagnosis of cancer, for which she is undergoing treatment.

Despite these immense challenges, she remains resilient and motivated to rebuild her life. With limited mobility due to chronic pain, she is focused on improving her physical strength and mobility. Her determination to make positive changes in her life is a testament to her strength as a "battler," a quality for which she is highly respected within her community.
