Better Together Community Support

Better Together is a community based organisation providing services across Far North Queensland. With a volunteer base, paid staff and donations, we provide support to community who are affected by the increase in cost of living and other socio-economic factors. We provide food relief that aims at reducing hunger, poverty and homelessness in our community. We also work with stakeholders to implement programs. We aim to provide a holistic approach to community wellbeing and resilience by meeting the everchanging needs of those impacted by social and financial difficulties.

Beyond Disability Inc.

Beyond Disability is a not for profit charity established in 1997 by Richard Stubbs OAM and our volunteers recycle computers, laptops and tablets for distribution to disabled and/or housebound folks, Veterans and their carers. Currently, we have 40 clients, mainly in the Mornington Peninsula area.

Recently we have expanded our focus to include school children in financially struggling families. We make a difference by not only supplying and installing the equipment but also providing in-home servicing of our equipment as needed.

Beyond DV Ltd

Beyond DV is a Brisbane based charity working with families to help rebuild their lives after domestic and family violence. Our Bright Start program focuses on helping children transition into new schools when relocating from a domestic violence situation. Our Youth Program “HOPE 4 Life” provides a mentor program to help children aged 7-17 years heal from trauma. Our Time Out program allows DV survivors to take some time out of their busy, often stressful, lives to focus on their own healing. Our “HOPE Beyond DV”- Recovery Services Open Day, in collaboration with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service provides an opportunity for government and non-government organisations to come together as a “one stop shop” with a focus on providing Brisbane DV survivors with an efficient way to access recovery services in one place. Our Pathways to Hope, will give women the opportunity to build financial independence through counselling, mentoring, training and job placement.

Beyond Youth Justice

This service provides young people – who are engaged with youth justice services – support and assistance in the areas of rehabilitation and emotional wellbeing.

As well as community based individual support, each partner agency delivers workshops (such as psycho-social skills development) at Banksia Hill.

Biala Hostel

Biala is a Hostel for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Girls living away from home to attend High School. Students come from rural communities across Australia to escape hardships, gain a better education and to share in life experiences.

Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community La Grange Incorporated

Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community La Grange Inc (BACLG) was incorporated in 1975 as a not-for-profit organisation to administer government-funded programs for the community, such as the Daycare service, Municipal Services, and Centrelink and Australia Post agencies. A Council of community representatives governs the organisation. Services have expanded to include a Women's Centre, Men's Centre and Family Centre. A Community Services Plan has been created to improve outcomes for children 0-4 years old and their families. Many of our programs are funded through donations and grants. We have created culturally safe spaces to develop engagement from community members. Services are provided to improve health and wellness and reduce stress on Aboriginal families in the community. We are always looking for creative ways to supply our community service programs for some of the most vulnerable people in Australian.

Big Group Hug Ltd

Big Group Hug is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organisation founded in 2014 by mum and teacher, Angela Wood and successful business leader, Geraldine Camilleri. Based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Big Group Hug supports vulnerable and disadvantaged families in need, by providing new and pre-loved goods to help these families care for their children, aged from new born to 16-year-old.

Our core belief is that all children deserve the best start in life, so for us, the child is the focus of everything we do. Our team is made up of over 300 individuals/volunteers who are determined and committed to assisting every family who asks for help.

We work closely with and receive requests for specific and essential items through Case Workers, Maternal and Child Health Nurses or other professionals in the community. Some of the basic necessities requested range from nappies, clothes, formula, and toys to nursery furniture, prams, car seats, and more. We pride ourselves on our compassionate, quick, and responsive nature, ensuring that we do everything we can to meet these needs, and in the process, help protect every young child in Australia from the adverse effects of disadvantage. 

Big Group Hug is also known to be independent and resourceful, with a unique ability to coordinate and mobilise community support. Heeding the call local businesses, and communities at large immediately spring into action and respond to the needs of young children, particularly vulnerable children, and their families. This only serves to prove that together, we can put the squeeze on childhood poverty.

Big Yellow Umbrella Incorporated

Big Yellow Umbrella (BYU) is a community hub that provides services, programs and activities to meet the needs of all aspects of the local Camden community, prioritising those that are vulnerable and disadvantaged. Our services include early childhood and support
playgroups, case management (youth and adults in crisis), intake and referral, youth services (center and school based), food relief and community meals, appeals, parenting programs, school breakfast clubs, early literacy, transition to school, skill development, school holiday programs, recreational programs, art and craft and community development.
We aim to strengthen and enrich the community by connecting people with local services, community activities and each other. BYU prides itself in working across the age and need spectrum, with crisis programs through to social participation and therapy programs including therapeutic art, yoga and tai chi.

Blackwood Youth Action Inc

Blackwood Youth Action Inc (BYA) is a charitable institution that has been supporting at-risk and marginalised young people in the Shires of Boyup Brook, Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Nannup and Manjimup since 2015.
BYA is the leading provider of youth mental health services and support to at-risk young people across social, emotional, educational and psychological domains in the Warren Blackwood region. BYA has a proven track record of responsive, pro-active and effective service delivery. The organisation has authentic longstanding connections across the community services, health and education sectors in the Warren Blackwood. BYA currently provides mental health and AOD awareness raising and education throughout all seven high schools in the region. BYA provides services that are evidence-informed; developmentally, socially and culturally appropriate; and responsive to all levels of need (ie. awareness raising, education, early intervention, treatment and referral).
