GIVIT helps thousands of Australians in need every year by providing items, services and vouchers. GIVIT helps people impacted by natural disasters, domestic and family violence or homelessness, First Nations Australians, people living with disability or mental ill-health, and much more.

 

How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation

Provides services to Alice Springs town camps. Tangentyere Council is the major service delivery agency for the 18 Housing Associations known as ‘town camps’ in Alice Springs.

Tarneit Rise Primary School

Our Primary School is in its 5th year. We have grown from having 250 students in our first year to about 1700 this year. Over the years, we have supported our students and families through times of hardship with the help of various organisations, such as providing breakfast club, uniforms and optometrist vouchers through State Schools Relief, clothes and groceries through the Rotary Club to mention a few. We are finding more and more families are coming to us for help, whether that be to help with medical care for their children or furniture for their homes. We are glad our families feel they can come to us, as they know that we always act with kindness and respect - 2 of our school values - and value the partnership between home and school.

Cockatoo Community House delivers programs and services for the Cockatoo community and beyond. We host a range of activities for people of all ages, and you’ll be made welcome in any class or drop-in activity you would like to come along to. Teach Learn Grow Inc.

Teach Learn Grow Inc is a Perth based education charity which sends university students to rural and remote WA primary schools to tutor the students in maths twice a year. To supplement this program Teach Learn Grow runs a online skype-style program called eMentor which is aimed to prepare the students for high school.

TeamHEALTH - Gunbalanya

TeamHEALTH is a for purpose organisation that supports people dealing with mental health concerns or mental illness. We seek to create community capacity for good mental health so that all people may lead a full and valued life. We are the only non-faith based, grass-roots mental health organisation that focuses its operations only in the Northern Territory (NT).

Based in Darwin, TeamHEALTH provides evidence based mental health services, focused on support, recovery and rehabilitation across Darwin, Palmerston and the regional and remote communities of the Northern Territory's Top End. This includes Katherine, Maningrida, and Gunbalanya.

Technology for Ageing and Disability (ACT) Inc (TADACT)

TADACT designs solutions and makes customised assistive equipment which is otherwise unavailable, to meet the needs of and assist people with disabilities of any age and older people to become more independent in their daily lives.

TADACT also modifies commercially available equipment to make it better suit the person’s needs; offers a comprehensive equipment repair service; provides specialised technical advice; and/or refers clients elsewhere if appropriate.
 
TADACT has a team of highly skilled volunteers who donate their time and expertise to provide the quality solutions and modifications to make the work we do possible.  The high quality and performance of any item which TADACT delivers is ensured by our Occupational Therapist and Engineering staff, who oversee the specifications, design, production and modification processes.

Tec-NQ Ltd

Based in Townsville North Queensland, Tec-NQ is a community college, not-for-profit organisation with strong social enterprises. Tec-NQ is a senior school and private registered training organisation (RTO) supporting local industry and regional development by developing innovative trades-based employment pathways.

With a focus on technical trades and professions, Tec-NQ creates employment opportunities for teens who are disengaged or not suited to pursuing academic studies and who may otherwise end up out of school and unemployed.

Tec-NQ provides a unique combination of senior school education, trade training that includes business, technical and technology skills, mentoring support services and access to their strong industry networks. Residential facilities enable rural and remote students to participate in these education and training services and overcome the barrier of distance which is a real issue in North Queensland.

Tecoma Uniting Church

Tecoma Uniting Church runs Food is Free Tecoma assisting the local community with fresh fruit and vegetables, perishable and non-perishable groceries. Community members are encouraged to leave any surplus fruit, vegetables, herbs, seedlings and seeds, and dry goods, and/or take what they need. They are also encouraged to access the FLAME community garden beneath the cupboard and around the side of the church and take fresh produce from there.

Teen Challenge QLD

Teen Challenge QLD assists young men 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through our Crisis Accommodation. We also operate two residential rehabilitation centres for males and females (16-39) who struggle with life controlling issues such as drug/alcohol addiction, self-harm, depression, abuse, prostitution and other issues. With all our services we aim to bring hope and healing to these young people and to help them re-enter the community with a hope for their future.

Temcare (Christian Brethren Community Care Ltd)

Temcare is a Christian welfare agency that provides a range of welfare services for vulnerable people living in the Melbourne and some outer metropolitan areas. The services include; respite care for children, mentoring for adolescents, and family services support for vulnerable families. Temcare recruits volunteers to provide respite care for children and mentoring for adolescents, and also employs professionally qualified staff to provide casework support services for adolescents and families.

Temple Beth Israel - Project Dignity

Temple Beth Israel is the largest Progressive Jewish Community in Melbourne. Project Dignity is a Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) group focussed on supporting people of refugee and asylum-seeker backgrounds. We do so through partnerships with other religious and community organisations that have a commitment to refugee support. We further this through a range of practical, educational and cultural activities that contribute to breaking down cultural and religious barriers, relieving poverty and disadvantage, and developing shared understandings and a sense of community.

Temple Society Australia - CHAMPION

CHAMPION (Community Hub and Meeting Place in Our Neighbourhood) is a community service established by the Temple Society Australia (TSA). It offers emergency food relief and a host of practical assistance and advisory services to help people get back on their feet.

There are experienced Community Workers onsite offering a range of practical assistance including budgeting advice and referral to local services. There is a computer with internet access available to search for job opportunities and to access information that may assist people.

Tender Funerals Far North Queensland

Tender Funerals is a not-for-profit funeral service that ensures that those experiencing financial hardship/distress are able to access personalised, meaningful and affordable funerals. We also provide community education and empowerment around after death care.

We provide a full range of services across after death care, funeral/celebration arrangements and body disposal options – many based on sustainable principles – which enable you to have a much greater say in how your loved one is treated after death. We encourage practices that promote healing.

A community venture, we operate in ways that do not leave community members with large debt. We don’t take shortcuts and always put people and relationships first.

Domestic and family violence

If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000 for emergency assistance.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

People living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

Refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

People struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.
