How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Ngaarda Media Aboriginal Corporation

It is dedicated to nurturing and keeping culture strong. Ngaarda Media presents Aboriginal culture in an inspiring and meaningful way, across all digital media, to allow more people to experience the oldest living culture on earth.
Ngaarda Media was originally established as the media element of the Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation’s activities focussed on the preservation, recording and promoting of the culture of the Yindijibarndi people. It now operates as an independent body that is able to promote all the cultural and language groups of the Pilbara region.

Ngala - Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY)

Ngala supports parents, families and communities to enhance the well-being and development of children and young people. Ngala delivers many services across WA including the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY). HIPPY is a home visiting service for vulnerable ad disadvantaged families to empower them to be their child's first teacher. HIPPY is a free service for families which provides educational packs, storybooks and other resources as well as a tutor who visits them in the comfort of their own home. We also provide group gatherings where the families can meet other HIPPY families in a community setting.

Ngalla Yorga Waangkan

Ngalla Yorga Waangkan encourages connection between women. The organisation supports elderly Aboriginal people connect and engage in rewarding creative acitivties, offering respite when needed.

Ngangk Yira Research Centre for Aboriginal Health and Social Equity Murdoch University

The Ngangk Yira Research Centre at Murdoch University brings together a wealth of knowledge and experience to help grow strong Aboriginal communities. The Centre has already taken huge steps towards this goal in the area of maternal and children’s health with its Birthing on Noongar Boodjar Project and the Baby Coming You Ready? project. Its recommendations will inform practical changes that will improve maternity care and childbirth outcomes for Aboriginal mothers and
their babies. The research is the first step towards closing the gap between the health and social and emotional well-being of Aboriginal women and other Australians, and will help plot a better future for many young women and their children.

Ngoonbi Community Services Indigenous Corporation

Ngoonbi provides services such as Community Housing, Commonwealth Home Support Program, Sport and Recreation, Youth Empowerment Program, ,Centrelink Agency, Alcohol and Other Drugs Program, Mechanic workshop, Bibi Yungan Learning and Training Centre; and the Employment Program for the purpose of improving quality of life, health and access to affordable and quality housing to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Kuranda Region.

Ngunnawal Bush Healing farm provides a place of healing, whereby Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people feel safe and supported in a therapeutic community approach , using traditional healing concepts, cultural programs and life skills training to tackle the client's underlying social and emotional issues.

Our Vision is for a connected, culturally rich and thriving community where Ngunya Jarjum support our local families to nurture their children, raise them on country, and preserve our culture and strength into the future.

We provide targeted early intervention, family preservation and out of home care services for Aboriginal families on the Far North Coast of NSW.

Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Co-Operation

Ngwala Willumbong provide support to the Indigenous community of Victoria and those willing to travel from interstate. We have 3 AOD residential rehabilitation centres, 1 Indigenous womens and 2 male residential rehabilitation centres. We rely heavily on donated goods to be able to provide support and materials to uplift and give the community the best chance at sobreity. We also offer homelessness support, AOD outreach, Public Intoxication response, Youth as well as many other services.

We are a not-for-profit registered charity that helps people in crisis by providing food hampers, household furniture, clothing, baby items and any other practical item to help someone in need.
With 2 police officers on our team, our focus is victims of domestic violence, pensioners, unemployed, homeless, and single parent families and just anyone doing it tough.
At this time we provide our services to 79 other government and not-for-profit organisations and groups.
100% of all our donations received are distributed free of charge.

Nollamara Intensive English and Primary School

Nollamara Primary School has families who come from challenging, vulnerable and traumatic family backgrounds including those from Refugee backgrounds. Some parents struggle to provide beds, furniture and home furnishings for their family. Our school provides breakfast five days a week to ease off the financial pressure the families have and for the children to feel nurtured at school. Your services will be greatly appreciated by our families who rely on our school for support.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

People living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

Refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

People struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.
